Ruby red fading to a pale violet rim. Intense nose, with lots of plum, blackcurrant and cherry compote fruit notes. Complex too, with hints of soy, kirsch, mocha and muscovado sugar. On the palate the wine is nicely balanced, being full, supple, round, yet not heavy. Really good grip and tannic structure, but ripe throughout with lovely black fruit, black pepper, coffee and spice notes. Lively, youthful and mineral, with an extremely long, seamless and finely-grained finish.
