This year is the first vintage of this wine, from organically farmed chardonnay vines which overlook the Grand Cru vineyard site of Clos Vougeot and Flagey-Echezeaux. Pale straw tinged through with green fading to a water white rim. An intense, well-defined nose of cantaloupe melon, pear and tangerine fruit, with elements of gunflint, aniseed, and hazelnut. On the palate there is an immediate burst of bright, lifted acidity. The wine is really clean and fresh, almost saline, with notes of lemon, cucumber and yellow plum, along with hints of smoke, flint and lime. The finish is long, lean, pure and refreshing, and beautifully balanced.
